Weekend Reset Routine

Weekend Reset Routine to Start the Week Productive

Ever feel like time just slips away in a blink between Friday and Sunday—scrolling, feeling stuck, and being a couch potato, doing nothing productive. What if I tell you that with a Weekend Reset Routine you can make good use of the weekend, get rest from the past demanding week and recharge for the coming days ahead.

As a corporate employee, I too was in your place trying to get through a weekend in gentle ways. After a 9-5 grind of five days, I wanted to pause, organize life, and reconnect with myself until a Weekend Reset Routine made a huge difference in my life. It was not complicated but intentional habits that set a relaxing tone for the weekend.

Everyone talks about adopting a Weekend Reset Routine but no one talks about how to reset your week. Not anymore when you have my reading. It highlights the importance of a weekly reset routine and mentions all the key steps for entering into a new week that feel calm and in control.

What is Weekend Reset?

Let’s be honest, life is a hustle of responsibilities, chores, commitments, and deadlines. You work everyday and when the weekend arrives, you just don’t want to think and do anything. Also, the feeling that the weekend just vanishes before you’ve had a chance to breathe is real.

About the outcome, your chores are undone, you are drained physically and mentally and when Monday arrives and you are not prepared for the week ahead, the stress is unmanageable. That’s when Weekend Reset provides meaning.

It’s a pause to realign your mind, reorganize tasks, and regain your energy to be fully present and focussed for the coming weekend. Below are my mindful insights on why Weekend Reset is beneficial and how it helps in being productive.

  • Removes stress and mental load
  • Improves focus and productivity
  • Give a sense of control and balance
  • Encourages self care
  • Build better habits
  • Prepare for the week ahead

Reminder: Everyone has its own weekend reset routine. So, it’s not about following what others do, it’s about creating one that works for you but the benefits are the same, so you better do it.

How to Reset During the Weekend?

It’s Friday evening and you have set your intentions to go through your weekend that makes you feel calm, productive and prepared for the next week. So, are you ready to know what you actually have to do?

Disclaimer: I am not going to overwhelm you with a reset routine that doesn’t feel real. Remember it’s a simple set of steps that fills your cup for the weekend.

Mental Reset

Before you physically get into the weekend, soak in your mind first. Detach from the week’s work properly so your mind gets focussed to embrace the weekend with full potential.

  • Jot down your thoughts for clarity
  • Review your past week to make room for improvements
  • Give complete mental attention to every tasks

Tip: Keep it simple because it’s a mental declutter and not a mental burden.

Life Organization

Another important part of a weekend reset routine is organization, it can be a space organization and week organization. See what needs to be organized and then plan it accordingly. With a clear organization map, you are sorted:

  • Laundry: Wash, fold, and put away clothes to avoid mid-week chaos.
  • Bedding: Change sheets and towels for a fresh start.
  • Fridge cleaning: Wipe and then refill
  • Plan the week ahead: Schedule your days ahead to never miss something important.
  • Engage in enjoyment: Hangout or take pleasure in hobbies
  • Meal prep: Plan meals and prep groceries to save time
  • Plan outfits: Decide your outfits firsthand to avoid morning rush
  • Digital detox: Immerse in nature to avoid screen time with my digital detox tips

Pro Tip: Don’t just rush to do everything, give dedicated time to each task.

Task Prioritization

You can’t make the most out of your weekend reset routine unless you have prioritized tasks. In between space clean up, self care, and scheduling the days ahead, you may end up doing nothing just because these tasks feel overwhelming to get done.

Here I want to mention a few proven techniques that have helped me in task management and now I want you to get benefitted in the best possible ways. The methods are Eisenhower Matrix (4 quadrants of task – do, schedule, delegate, and delete). The 1-3-5 Rule: Limits the daily to-do list to 1 big item, 3 medium items, and 5 small items.

Here is a brief guide to manage tasks:

  • Create a Comprehensive Task List: Write down all tasks and deadlines.
  • Break Task into Smaller Chunks: Avoid being overwhelmed with big projects and breakdown big tasks into small tasks.
  • Balance Work and Energy: Consume your energy on high-focus tasks.
  • Use a Prioritization Method: Apply frameworks like the Eisenhower Matrix to categorize.
  • Execute Timely: Don’t procrastinate and start with dedicated time.
  • Review and Adjust: Continuously assess your list as new tasks arise.

Self Care Routine

A weekend reset is incomplete without self care. You are your own priority and no one is going to do it for you. When it’s the weekend, dedicate time to yourself. Do what makes you feel happy and relax.

You can add self care as part of your Relaxing Sunday Routine where you are just unwinding. If you don’t know where to start, below are my mindful insights on a relaxing self-care routine. You can always follow these insights just the way you like.

  • Self Grooming (Weekly skin care, hair care, and body care)
  • Recharge your body (Prepping healthy meal)
  • Do something you enjoy (reading, hobby)
  • Move your body (walk, stretch, workout)
  • Spend time with loved ones
  • Take intentional “me time”

Reminder: Adopt a self-care routine that fits appropriate to you and don’t get influenced with anyone.
